Training

The Danish National ID Centre offers training courses for relevant Danish authorities. Below is a description of the Danish National ID Centre’s standardized training courses.

‘Training in ID document verification, original documents’ (1 day)
The training course aims at case workers who handle ID documents in their case handling. We look at ID documents such as passports and visa stickers or civil status documents such as birth certificates, registration certificates and marriage certificates. The training course also regards information about several other elements in ID documents, such as stamps and different types of tactical information that can be found in the document as well as an introduction to facial comparison.

The training course is intended to teach case workers to inspect an original ID document. Among other things, we take a closer look at what technical information can be found in travel documents. We also explain how the information in a document can be used to inspect the authenticity of the document when the document contains few technical security features.

The course consists of presentations in combination with several practical exercises.

‘Training in ID document verification, copies of documents’ (1 day)
The course aims at teaching case workers to handle and inspect copies of ID documents when the original ID document is not submitted. The course is intended to present several useful methods when inspecting copies of ID documents or digitally scanned editions of various ID documents.

Copies of passports, visa stickers, ID cards and residence cards as well as civil status documents such as birth- and marriage certificates are all covered throughout the course of this training.

The course consists of presentations in combination with several practical exercises.

To attend this course it is necessary to have basic knowledge regarding inspection of original ID documents. Participants are therefore required to have completed the course ‘Training in ID document verification, original documents’ prior to attending this course.

‘Training in ID document verification, originals and copies’ (2 days)
This course aims at case workers who inspect original ID documents as well as copies of ID documents in their casework and/or case workers who need extensive knowledge on how to inspect different documents that might be submitted in their case load.

The course combines the two courses ‘Training in verification of ID documents, original documents’ and ‘Training in verification of ID documents, copies of documents’ into one course that lasts for two days.

‘Facial comparison’ (1 day)
The use of fraudulently obtained genuine documents or posing as an impostor is a trend which is increasing.
The training course in facial comparison is offered to case workers who want training on how to determine whether an applicant is the rightful owner of the submitted ID documents. Furthermore, the case workers can use the knowledge obtained in the training course to assess similarities and differences in photographs when handling cases where the applicant is not personally present.

The training course introduces a feature-by-feature method of comparing the different elements of the face, as well as information about the psychological factors to be aware of when conducting facial comparison. The course includes a presentation on how aging affects the process of comparing faces and facial images. The training course includes examples of how the quality of facial images can affect the level of complexity when performing facial comparison based on facial images.

The course consists of presentations in combination with practical exercises. The exercises are either to be completed individually or as a general discussion where the participants get to use their knowledge while comparing different facial images.

Aside from conducting the standardized courses the Danish National ID Centre also develops new training courses that can benefit the Danish immigration authorities.
